Caroline Got Engaged! Part 2 - Guest Blog

We have Caroline, one of our summer Interns with us again today recapping her proposal story. A proposal is something so special as it's truly the beginning of a great adventure!

Justin tells me he wants to go running with his mom and I on his birthday. There were so many signs in that statement and yet I didn’t have a clue. He never wants to run with me and it was his birthday. I should have known something was up. Justin followed up saying he just wanted to see his mom on his birthday. That makes sense so I didn’t think about it. The signs didn’t stop there.

Later he texts me saying that we’re going to run at our High School where we met. I thought that was strange but he said his mom was meeting someone after and the school was on the way. So I dismissed that too.

On the drive up to our old school I noticed that it was Thursday and we were going back to the spot we met. A throwback Thursday selfie was a must and I went on and on about how sweet that post would be. Justin didn’t seem that enthused but later I found out he was saying in his head, “She knows! She knows it’s coming!” Of course I didn’t though.

We got up to the track and there was his mom in regular clothes. Justin says, “Mom! Where’s your running clothes?” She said that she wanted to look nice for her meeting later. You would think all these things added together would give me a clue but I continued to be oblivious.

We began a stroll around the track and after we got around the first corner Justin challenges me to a race. First one to the goal post wins. I immediately take off running not giving any slack. When I reach the goal post I turn around and he is walking towards me with a tender smile. He says, “the real reason why I brought you here….” In that moment I realized what was about to take place. Everything around me went out of focus and his face was the only thing in view. I got lost in the whirlwind of my thoughts as I tried to decipher the sweet words coming from Justin’s heart. It’s a feeling like no other when your best friend makes that commitment to spend the rest of his life with you. Words cannot describe the emotions that surrounded that track. I said yes and collapsed in his arms.

His heart was so transparent in that moment. It was raw and absolutely beautiful. I am so thankful for such a genuine and caring man. He couldn’t have made it any better. I will always remember that moment and cherish it with all my heart.
